Granite Worktops: Everything You Need to Know
Granite is a natural substance, as a result no two pieces are the same and it comes in a wide variety of colours and patterns, depending on the mi of quartz, mica and feldspar in the stone. It is usually in darker colours and non-porous, however lighter colours are more porous and prone to stains.
Granite worktops come in different finishes, a rough finish as well as a finer finish that is obtained by buffing with diamond pads, creating a very shiny and more colourful worktop. A flamed finish is also common where the face of the granite worktop is burnt and then worked on with nylon brushes, creating more intricate patterns.
